A high activity, certified-organic, really raw Manuka honey with anti-bacterial properties - superb for digestion and fighting infection naturally.
Green Bay honey is sourced from hives tucked away in remote and wild parts of New Zealand. If you have seen the film ‘Vanishing of the Bees’ you will be reassured to know that the Soil Association Organic symbol certifies that the hives are not located near farms using systemic pesticide sprays. The bees are not fed sugar and the hive is not robbed of all its honey so the colony does not starve to death during winter.
Because it is has not been over-heated, over processed, Green Bay raw manuka is a golden colour and contains high levels of bee pollen and has the aroma and distinctive taste of the manuka nectar.
Wonderful spread thickly on toast or neat from a spoon. Also delicious paired with a slice of fresh pear or apple.
Green Bay raw organic Manuka Honey is carefully selected to meet our six-point quality promise:
1. 100% New Zealand Honey, shipped by sea.
2. Not pasteurised (uggh!) or over-heated during packing so that health-supporting enzymes and other nutrients aren't lost. (More people need to know that Honey is a natural product that, when stored correctly, will last for ages without being fine-filtered by big food companies.)
3. Minimally filtered - to retain propolis and pollen which naturally occurs in raw honey. Some of our honey contains an incredible 500,000 grains of pollen in a 10g sample (yum!). Bee pollen contains B vitamins for energy, vitamin C for immune support and antibody formation, as well as a wide range of minerals. Pollen extracts have also been used to desensitize allergy sufferers to the allergens which trigger their condition.
4. Unblended and sourced from a single estate.
5. High activity honey - the activity, a measure of anti-bacterial strength, of each drum is verified by ISO 9001approved test method and laboratory. Clinical trials show that manuka honey below 8+ has negligible therapeutic value so stick to honey with values above 10+.
6. Taste tested - a sample from each batch is taste-tested by a Green Bay family member so you can enjoy the distinctive flavour profile of each apiary.
As close to the goodness of the hive as you can get without being stung!
More about Manuka Honey ...
Manuka honey comes exclusively from New Zealand, where the manuka bush (Leptospermum Scoparium), a relative of the tea tree, is a protected native species.
Manuka honey has clinically proven anti-bacterial properties which fight infection, particularly in the mouth and throat, as well as supporting good digestion. Good levels of antioxidants help combat inflammation while zinc and B vitamins are key nutrients for relieving stress.
Raw, high activity Manuka honey is rich in iron, zinc, B vitamins and antioxidants which makes it an excellent daily support to help maintain a robust immune system and general well-being. Because it has not been damaged by heat or over-refined, raw honey's health benefits make it a true 'natural food hero'. Its antibacterial properties are so effective that honey is used in hospital settings; it helps to replenish healthy tissue at the site of wounds, too, so may help to speed healing. The antioxidants in honey also fight inflammation and free radicals, while the zinc and B vitamins support the nerve function and aid recovery from infections.
Long associated with vitality and abundance, Active Manuka Honey has remarkable antibacterial properties which are being employed to prevent and combat superbug MRSA. It also assists with healing tissue, soothing inflammation and stomach ulcers and enhancing digestive health.
Nutrition
Containing iron, zinc and B vitamins, active manuka honey has restorative powers that make it a desirable food for those recuperating from illness. As it is relatively acidic, our honey discourages the growth of “hostile” bacteria, while replenishing healthy tissue and stimulating production of white blood cells. Good levels of antioxidants also help to reduce inflammation.

Food Preparation
It is recommended that children should take a teaspoonful of honey on a piece of bread twice a day. Adult intake is dependent on health reasons for taking honey. For general consumption, we recommend a teaspoon a day. No foods or fluids should be taken up to half an hour before to half an hour afterwards, so that the honey is not diluted. Clearly honey is a sugar and should therefore be eaten in limited quantities as part of a balanced diet. Not suitable for babies or children less than one year old.
Ingredients: Pure, Organic Manuka Honey (100%)
One of nature’s trusted remedies for over 4,000 years, active manuka honey is considered such a potent force it is currently being used in major hospitals to combat serious wound infections.
Fighting Infection
Active manuka honey has two antibacterial properties, hydrogen peroxide and a manuka factor which may work together to provide outstanding healing. Used to quell over 60 bacteria and fungi, its antibacterial action is highly stable and has shown considerable success in clearing wounds and resolving infection.
Digestion
Assisting digestion by coating and soothing the gastro-intestinal tract, active manuka honey shields the gut from damaging conditions such as acid reflux. The activity rating of 14+ indicates that its antibacterial strength is equivalent to a 14 per cent solution of phenol. Active manuka honey has proved effective against the helicobacter pylori bacteria which cause gastric ulcers.
