Vytina is in the Arcadia, central Peloponnese, our honey comes from a little south of there. It has very high content in minerals and vitamins, and is used as an antiseptic of the respiratory system. Taken by the locals for effects against bad breath, it also functions as a gastrointestinal balancer.

A honey that combines all the beneficial ingredients of thyme, herbs and coniferous trees. The hives are moved mid-season from the late-blossoming mountain Thyme to a secluded spot in the White Mountains, a Greek national park, creating a natural blend of the two floral regions.

Honey produced by the bees foraging on the bearberry flowers is dark and treacly with lots of mineral flavour and a hint of sea breezes. As it is not a very sweet tasting honey, I can eat it by the spoonful and it is particularly well suited to a slice of sheep's cheese on a sesame cracker.
