Green Bay's Wild Gourmet Fine Kelp is an Iodine-rich, natural alternative to salt.

"Iodine is an essential nutrient for humans. Although only required in very small amounts, it is an important constituent of thyroid hormones. These hormones maintain the body’s metabolic state and support normal growth and development in children. As iodine is essential for normal brain development, it is particularly important that the unborn baby (fetus) and young children have adequate intakes."

Green Bay's kelp is harvested from the clean, pristine South Pacific seas of New Zealand and is naturally dried before being milled into fine kelp flakes for easy consumption. Sprinkle this gourment condiment on fish, vegetables and eggs or stir into your favourite soups.

Kelp is a natural absorber of radiation, highly nutritious and has a balancing effect on the thyroid gland.

Green Bay Wild Gourmet Fine Kelp is sustainably hand harvested and free from toxins.

  • Naturally Good for You: Our kelp is packed with vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D and E, and essential amino acids. As well as high concentrations of iodine, important for good thyroid function, kelp contains iron, sodium, phosphorus and calcium, magnesium, potassium and trace minerals.
  • Ingredients: 100% New Zealand Dried Kelp (Macrocystis Pyrifera)
  • Suggestions for Use: Add a modest pinch (0.05g daily, approximately 1/6 of a tsp) to flavour food or drink. Use as a salt substitute (in moderation) instead of salt in salad dressings. Sprinkle on fish, vegetables, beans or stir into tomato juice. Any person with thyroid disease should consult their doctor first.
  • Pregancy and breastfeeding: According to the NZ Ministry of Health, in an article about Iodine on the 14th, 2014:

"Iodine levels of meat, chicken, eggs and dairy products are reflective of the iodine content of the animal feed used. Currently it is difficult for most consumers to obtain adequate iodine from their normal diet, which is why commercially prepared bread must now have iodine added to it. Requirements for iodine increase during pregnancy and breastfeeding and even with a well balanced diet, it is difficult to get enough iodine from food alone. Women of child bearing age are encouraged to choose foods that are important sources of iodine. These foods include seafood, commercially prepared bread, milk, eggs, meat and cereals and seameal custard."
